Child Welfare |
Children are the Precious gift from God. At Present we see the horifiying fact that the number of child labourers is increasing at high speed and lakhs of helpless children are forcibly engaged in prostitution, there are many cases of child abuse. The children with such experience are turning into criminals. Your little contribution can lend a helping hand to these tiny tots who are the victims of child abuse and poverty.
Child labor in India is a human right issue for the whole world. It is a serious and extensive problem, with many children under the age of fourteen working in carpet making factories, glass blowing units and making fireworks with bare little hands.
The situation of child laborers in India is desperate. Children work for eight hours at a stretch with only a small break for meals. The meals are also frugal and the children are ill nourished. Most of the migrant children, who cannot go home, sleep at their work place, which is very bad for their health and development. Children who work are subsequently subject to abuse, both physical and sexual, from their employers and often work under conditions that are both unhealthy and potentially fatal. Globally the majority of child labourers come from the poorer sections of society. Social exclusion and discrimination, a result of poverty and ethnic and gender biases, are important factors that keep children out of school and force them to work. Seventy five percent of Indian population still resides in rural areas and are very poor. Education can be expensive and some parents feel that what their children will learn is irrelevant to the realities of their everyday lives and futures.
| So, the children in rural families who are ailing with poverty perceive their children as an income generating resource to supplement the family income. Parents sacrifice their children’s education to the growing needs of their younger siblings in their family and view them as wage earners for the entire clan. |
